You have to be under load for the secondaries on a qjet to open. With the
engine off but warm - make sure that when you open the throttle fully by hand
that the lower back barrels open up. Then use your finger to push the air
wrap valves on the top open. You should see all the way into the manifold if
all is well. If either the top or bottom secondaies won't open - make sure
all the linkage is working correctly and the choke is fully open. There is a
secondary lockout on the choke linkage as well. Also remember that when this
engine is working perfectly - a non 442/ho 4 barrell 307 only has 140 HP to
start with. So if it seems anemic - it's probably working just fine.
