Where to start?

Well, I've been contemplating building an ECM bench-racing setup for a
while now (as you well know, Bruce ;) ). I'm probably going to start on
it soon - since I'm about to go through a complete redesign on my home
brew EPROM programmer. I don't have infinite funds to buy "other" ECM's,
but I have a 730 (that I intend to purchase a 90-92 TPI V8 Memcal for),
and I have a 165 ECM that has a Hypertech V8 aftermarket Memcal in it.

My "focus" with the bench setup right now is going to be replicating
Bruce's experiments on testing the Sy/Ty programming running in a 730.
That would mean that I could use Promgrammer to change parameters. After
this experimenting, hopefully my car may be near ready, and I can do the
changeover from the 165 MAF based system to a 730 2-bar MAP based
system. :) Who knows when I'll get the need to go for unnatural
aspiration. ;^)

With the bench racing setup, I'd be happy to try out code from others on
those ECM's. I don't have a detailed plan for the bench yet, just a
bunch of pots and a few 555's. Might get a couple trashed (cracked tip)
fuel injectors to throw on there as well. Does anyone here have details
on a bench setup, or possibly that could be one place to start? I've got
the factory manual for my '89 motor, so I've got a good idea on what the
sensors comprise. So, that's probably how I'll start... Just wondering
if anyone had this stuff documented anywhere.

Feel free to throw comments, flames, whatever at me. ;)
