Any hints on tuning for a big cam?

How radical of a roller cam are we  talking about?   Mine is a
224/236-114 at .050, my guess is somewhere around 280-290 of duration.
The only difficulty I am having is there are some oscillations that
are several seconds in duration (maybe 5-10, I am going to have to
examine it more closely).   Mine is holding idle pretty well, so
things are pretty driveable.
