Diacom problems...

Suddenly Diacom has lost the ability to link to my 89 Formula...
Also tried to link to my buddy's 95 Z with it today, so now I'm
thinking either the cable or the laptop. Here's the symptoms- Select
link, it sits there at linking to vehicle, and nothing happens...
Now, if I press enter a bunch of times, it will link after a
fashion, but not update unless you hold down the enter key... Also
shows massive amounts of trouble codes in both cars, and neither
mine or the 95 Z has the SES light lit. Also tried another CALPAC in
my current ECM, another ECM with my CALPAC, and both the current and
backup ECM that I have have been tried with another different
CALPAC.
Can't see anything in diag mode, can only see data in ALDL mode.
I've tried running the laptop in PC DOS 7.0 (where it worked fine
before) and the MS-DOS mode of Win 95 OSR2- doesn't help... Have
tried setting PP both bidi and SPP, no change.  Have deleted and
reinstalled the software, and booted my laptop clean with no
config.sys or autoexec.
laptop is an IBM ThinkPad 755CD with a Pentium 75, and used to work
fine with Diacom. Have initalized the cable exactly according to the
Diacom book, also.
Any ideas?
I'm going to call Rinda Tuesday, but maybe someone has an idea that
I haven't tried?
