tracker dead motor, whats a good gm2.8

Hi all:
 I did, the #4 piston broke up and fell out of my truck ( 92 tracker).
I was just told that a 2.8L fits right in ( woohoo 1.2L more) what 2.8L
uses a 730/727 and a 5spd manual. I'm not sure if the engine needs to be 
fwd or rwd. the starter on the tracker is on the right hand side
