The 1976 engine can mechanically take all the modern EFI 3.8L FWD stuff,
so why not graft the intake, electronics, etc from a newer mid 80's
engine on the RWD block.  Works fine.

If your firing order is different (even versus odd fire), then oyu can
just reconnect the injectors and the ignition wires in the right order.

Would be a lot easier, and prolly work out of the box more or less.
