More silly ideas

Bruce et al.,

I don't have knowledge of the actual hardware used inside a map sensor, but I
assume it's most likely a piezzo device or a simple diaphragm/resistor type.
No matter what is used I think there should be a reference pressure chamber to
calibrate the device (a small cavity on the back of the diaphragm or piezzo
sensor maybe). If that cavity is sealed at the factory, then whatever pressure
it was set up for then is the reference pressure, and not necessarily your
locale's. The solution in this case would be simple, just drill a relief hole
in the cavity (making sure no moisture gets in), and you have a map sensor
referenced to your every day baro pressure.

Would this work or did I completely miss my guess?

Btw, if this does work it presents interesting possibilities, like referencing
the sensor off a preset vacuum or boost.
