Brian,
You got ripped...
Ford MAF sensors get dirty, and a little CRC spray electrical cleaner on 
the MAF elements takes care of the ping.  If it still pings afterwards, and 
also since yours is 4 years old, change the Fuel filter.  They plug and 
reduce fuel causing the engine to lean out and ping.
