Please don't apologize!
I lost an ex-father-in-law whom I was very close with... He was almost dead
of Lung Cancer at 50. On 100% pure O2, he was still slightly blue in the
lips and nail beds. After almost 18 months of waiting on the recipient
list, and near death, a lung came in. To see this man back looking healthy
and alive again was a miracle. It was short lived, as the hospital was
doing construction, and the OR suites had gotten contaminated with Mucor
and Aspergillus. He lost an eye to the Mucor and when he had recovered and
was back on his feet again, he was struck down fatally by the Aspergillus
spores. He and 3 other transplant patients all done within 2 days of each
other lost their lives to the infection. Not one of the survivors sued the
hospital for Malpractice for this abomination of medicine.
I am an organ donor, and if need came up, would give what I could while
alive (IE: kidney etc).
I think people afraid to donate should be educated. There is no more
precious of a gift!.
