I measured the spacing in my '7748:  0.475".

I also checked several C3's with 24 pin EPROMs.  They were all the
standard 0.6".  Hmmm.  The 24 pin and 28 pin R&N chip holders look
identical (except for the number of pins.)  The 28 pin bases must be
different.
