For new users I'd suggest the two transistor interface that Sanjaya
Vatuk has documented at http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/aldl_hardware.htm
However Andy has a new note there:
I'm hearing that you may have to add two diodes in series with the 10K
resistor in the base of upper transistor in certain applications for
reliable operation.
I'd like to hear what experience/problems that people have had.

check http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl/diacom/diacom.htm
for an expose (how do you get those accents?). As David says, Diacom is
a parallel port "bit banger".

Diacom cables (or rather, the Diacom interface) won't work when RS232
is required.
