more DIS questions

I have looked at the pinouts for a '727
90-92 "W" body- both 4cyl with DIS,TBI
and 3.1L V6 with port and distributor
and was wondering along the V8 lines if
two four cylinder DIS modules could be
run with two crank triggers by just
supplying the ECM wiring to each
module.  the crank trigger appears to
come in from a differnt set of wires
than the ECM. What exactly does the ECM
tell the DIS module
(dwell?,advance/retard???)
