Laptop Question

I know this is kinda off topic but it has to do with getting the info I need
to adjust the prom.  I bought a laptop from egghead.com which was actually
from intellesale.com  Well the laptop is great but the battery is dead and
won't hold a charge.  Also the battery light won't come on which seems
weird.  Basically they don't warranty batteries but this was DOA so I
consider that not warranty.  Is that correct?  What do I do about the
battery and if I have to buy one does anyone have a good source for the
battery?  I also need a Car Adapter.  It is a 760EL IBM Thinkpad.  Thanks.
