Diacom Communication with a '7730

Hello,
   I built a Diacom cable using Peter's Diagram:

I can not it to link to a '7730 or a '8231.  I was wondering if anyone has a 
different design to utilize Diacom with the '7730?  Vehicle is an '88 
Beretta with Digital Dash.  Thanks for any assistance.
