It Sure sounds like the valves they used at Indy during the Turbo Offy era.
The track would give you your calibrated pop off valve
to run the race on. Some owners would use an extra large Turbo, so that when
the pop of valve vented the extra boost the Turbo wouldn't spool down that
much, negating the purpose of the pop off valve and horsepower production. I
thought they were modified aircraft parts.
