Dremel? Jeeze, you're working on a ECM not a carb.
If your soldering skills are really bad, nip the leads at the chip, solder
socket to leads. After verifying continuity across the solder joints,
secure the socket to the carrier with some hot glue. The pins in the
carrier are quite fragile.
Practicing on a V6 memcal is a good idea if you're unsure. No insult to
the V6 peoples, just that they're plentiful.
