Boost Control Solenoid?

Guys,

Anybody here familiar with GM's boost control solenoids?  I have a chunk of 
hardware sitting in my lap that I *think* is one.  It has two vacuum line 
nipples a filter and a 4 wire connector.  Two of the wires go to some sort 
of pressure transducer.

My questions are:

Is this in fact a boost solenoid?

Why is there 4 wires instead of just one?
