Jake,

>From a sophomore's viewpoint, limp home mode is when the ECM's digital
circuitry crashes. There are removable resistors (CALPAK) in the ECM that can
run the injectors in "analog mode" based on just a few basic sensors like
TPS, coolant, RPM, and maybe MAP. Of course the engine runs way out of tune
since this is an emergency situation. The ignition module takes over ignition
timing with its own internal curve. The fuel pump is also apparently under
control of the limp home circuitry at all times. This is my short version. JW
