Testing 808 w/o engine/car -- was cooked VN

that makes me breathe a little easier.
Their was no smoke. i opened up the ECU and found nothing looking visibly
burt/melted. No bad smells either. It was just the loom, no radio luckily :)
I was going to say 'how stupid am I' but then, this stuff happens to
everyone once in a while. It was a battery with non colour coded
terminals... allways though they were made for people who didn't know what +
and - was hehe.. If it had of been colour coded red.... ;)
-----------------------

Ok, also, i wondering how i can test the 808.
I have all the engine sensors + a fuel pump.
I was thinking i can just connect up the ECU's power pins, and 'check
engine' light. If i then if i apply 12v to the 'ignition on' pin, i should
get a check engine light? (if no sensors are connected?)

Thanks.
