There is a handy little utility out there called the "SoftwareWedge" which 
will take data from a serial port and stuff it directly into almost any 
Windoze program.  It might be just what you are looking for.  It's a bit 
pricey at $199, but it's powerful and works with all versions of Windoze 
and even DOS.  See it at:

There may be others out there too, a little searching might be in order.  I 
recall a similar product that was $49, but I can't find any info on it now.  
If I run across it I'll post it to the list.
