Two little stories I thought were funny that I got on another list. In a
way they are EFI related.

I have a 94 1/2 ton GMC 4.3 V-6, automatic. For a while it has been doing
the missing and popping while driving . My wife took it to this shade tree
mechanic just to get an idea what was wrong. He looked at it and said the
Carburetor (throttle body) needed a kit. There is 4 circle things and two
weren't working and 1 or 2 of the circle things gas pours out of it into
the
TB.Anybody have an idea how much this costs to fix? Can an idiot fix it? We
live in a rural area, and just about any professionals around here, don't
take too much pride in there work and overcharge and do poor work.
To settle an argument, I was wondering if I took the truck to a AAA
diagnostic van for testing would there testing pick up what was wrong with
it or would I be throwing away $45.00 ?

Living on an island like Martha's Vineyard has its challenges.
We have no franchise fast food restaurants or stores, and now it
seems our mechanics are crooked!
I took my '94 Silverado off the island today for tires and alignment.
It's the first time I've had the truck over 60mph in a few years!
I decided to kick back and let the cruise control do the work, but it
didn't work. I got out of the truck at a rest stop to check it out
and...
NO CRUISE CONTROL!
I had my carb rebuilt in '99 by a local garage with a bad reputation.
They told me I had a bad fuel pump and then told me I needed the carb
rebuilt.
This being the ONLY time I ever let the truck out of my sight, these
crooks obviously swiped my control unit!
I hadn't used the cruise control for the past 2 years.... so now I
can't even prove they did it.
My bad for not checking. My bad for trusting those idiots.
Can anyone tell I'm a little P-O'ed?
