Possibly OT, ??s about a GM feedback Q-jet

At the risk of looking stupid "again"--did they also have the same instructions for the 5 pin module ? Kinda remember never being able to get the vehicle to run if the 4 wire was disconnected ? Never could find that tan with "black" tracer, either...
Remember building a 383 for a guy in an '86 Blazer which later detonated #4 piston...the thing never "sensed" knock, even though the circuit was all checked. It ended up on my wall as a reminder...

  The 7 pin module was used in the EST (Electronic Spark Timing) distributors. 
  These had no vacuum canister or mechanical advance. The timing was set by 
  disconnecting a tan/black bypass wire on EFI, or the 4 wire connector on most 
  feedback carb models.
