Bob,

once you had the timing backed out back up a few hundred did you go back &
put the timing back in down stream & take the fuel back out?

Just a note.   Spent some time trying to get rid of detonation in the
2000rpm range at WOT, yanking spark and adding a good bit of PE fuel
helped, but still got a little every now and then.

Found some old notes about that "true detonation, once started, is hard to
stop".  Exactly the problem I had.    Dropped a few points of timing out a
few hundred RPM *before* I was detecting knock.

Problem gone, now pulls hard thru the 2000-3000 rpm range.  Still need to
do some plug checks to verify knock is REALLY gone.
