Very basic newbie question about A.I.R. pumps

Careful investigation will reveal that A.I.R. s function per duty
cycles. Main
strategy is to make the CAT light quicker. Manual and Auto duty cycles
are different per engine , vehicle profile. Not all profiles have the
A.I.R.
installed , which is defined by the emission package and calibration.
     Typically emissions packages are defined , NA5 , NM8 , Export , etc.
Many Export emissions packages also run leaded fuel , thus CL and O2
are not functional. Depending which state you reside in , visual
inspection
of emission HW may be in place , removal of the components may cause
you to fail the vehicle inspection program in place. Properly working
A.I.R.
system is not a serious loss in performance , as other areas in the system
can yield more improvement in performance.
