Carbureted Caprice diag codes

Hi, all.  I'm a newcomer to this list.  I am mostly lurking, gathering 
information for a TBI swap on my 1984 El Camino.

That *should* be the way to pull codes on a CCC carb-equipped 
car, like my El Camino.  Are you sure the "check engine" light is 
not burned out?
