new MAF Vs TPI MAF

I am wondering if it is possible to use one of the newer MAF sensors, (such
as the one from a 5.7L Vortec truck application), in place of the stock MAF
on a TPI 5.7L? I understand that the newer design is more vibration
resistant. I know that the computer converts the voltage signal into
gm/sec. I just cannot find the actual voltage reading in the newer Vortec
manuals to see if it is the same as the older ones. All I can find is the
scan tool gm/sec readings after the VCM converts the signal. From the TPI
manuals I have that the ECM sends a 5 volt reference signal to the MAF. The
ECM then reads that down to .4 volts is low air flow and up to 5 volts is
high air flow. Is this voltage resistance the same as the newer MAF sensors?
