2.5L Iron Duke MPFI conversion.

The 301 had pretty close to the worst ports of any poncho V8.
The half of the intake ports on each head were particularly bad.
The 301 had an inch lower deck height than the 350 and a thin casting
lightwieght block.  This was not a strong engine.  The (shorter) rods were
not as strong as the 350 either.
As mentioned here, the Tech-IV duke 151 had much better ports.
I'm not sure about the rods.  Pontiac made "power parts" for the Duke
for a number of years.  I believe Olds may have made some
"Rocket parts" for it also.  Nationwise had a Modified (NHRA) Fierro
with a 3 litre version of the duke, turning high 9's without boost.
It was a far cry from the production Duke engine.  I think the 
bore center dimensions were the same (grin).
 I believe the driver was Larry Kopp(?).  This was mid/late 80's.
