If you're not doing anything different with cam and heads, then the stock setup should work fine. If you want to make the tuning nearly perfect, then adjust the BPW (Base Pulse Width) up 9% to compensate for the increased displacement.

My dad is putting a 383 into his Suburban. His is slightly newer, although I don?t remember the year. He?s rebuilding the stock motor with a new crank.

We?re going on the assumption that since this is merely a 10% increase in displacement with little change to VE (intake, exhaust, heads, cam are stock) all of the stock electronics should adapt with zero problems.

I?ll let you know if this assumption turns out to be incorrect.

Subject: [Gmecm] HT 383 w/ vortech in 96 Tahoe

I have gleaned some knowledge ( some conflicting) about the Vortech computer from this site that has been helpful.

I am getting ready to swap in a GM HT-383 engine w/ the Vortech fuel injection in my 96 Tahoe & am wondering :

1: will the injectors handle the amount of fuel needed?

2: can I change the pump & regulator to feed the demand?

3: will the Mass Air Sensor help the computer adapt to the added CI of the engine?

4: will I HAVE to reprogram the ECU?

5: has anyone already done this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Ed
