The 96-up Vortec engines (V6 & V8) are classified as central, sequential
port injection. They utilize both a cam and crank sensor as well as
seperate fuel injectors connected to each poppet nozzle and operate in TRUE
Sequential Fuel Injection mode. The 1995-earlier Vortec V6 used a single
injector hooked to 6 poppet nozzles, which classifies it as Central Port
Injection (batch fire).
Tunercat (C.A.T.S.) has support for 1996-99 Vortec Trucks, as well as some
OBD2 LS1 vehicles. Support for 2000-up vortec trucks and other vehicles is
coming soon.
I have the Tunercat vortec truck tuning software and have already tuned a
couple vehicles with it. If you need a custom tune, or help understanding
the tunercat software (or maybe just want to know what it has to offer),
feel free to contact me.
