[Gmecm] 1227808 ECM with 8192 Baud ALDL

Hi John,

I agree about the 16183082 or 16206305 ECM from a wreckers. A lot of VN & VP
Commodores already have had the 3082 or 6305 ECM fitted when the original
7808 ECM failed. VR or VS 3.8L or 5.0L Manual only had these ECMs fitted as
standard.

Alternately you could use a 7165 ECM fitted to 1986-89 Camaros, Firebirds &
Corvettes. They offer 8192 support and can be found on eBay for usually less
than US$50. The 7165 board is older than the 1993-1995 Commodore.

I have just run a similar scenario when my 7165 ECM in my TPI Trans Am
failed. I ended up find a 3082 ECM cheap at a local Holden wreckers. My SPX
2000 scanner does all the 8192 sensor feedback on the 3082 ECM, as it did
with the 7165 ECM.

You are still going to need a 8192 capable BIN as stated below.

Cheers,
ANDREW McKENZIE

You're better off scouring through the Camiras/Astras/Pulsars at DIY
wrecking yards looking for a 16183082 or 16206305. They were a factory
replacement for the flakey 1227808's, directly interchangeable and support
8192. You should be able to get one for ~$50. It's the same as in a VR/S
manual but Commodore parts people will charge you an arm and a leg for one.

Still, that's only 1/2 your problem...you still need an 8192 capable BIN.

Hi all,
Has anyone seen details on adding 8192 baud circuity to a 1227808 ECM. I've
seen it done but don't have to details on how. I think it involves adding a
Max232 IC somehow.

John
