[Gmecm] $8D code "issue"?

I'd like to see a datalog and watch the commanded idle.  Does it try to
start and sputter then die, or what is the chain of events?

I'm looking at doing a $8D big block 489 inch motor.

My '730 ECM running $8d to operate a 454 exhibits the exact same
behavior.
I suspect its an inherent feature/flaw in $8d.
