Q: dual ended ignition coil

Why is everyone so excited over waste-spark ignitions ("dual-ended coils")?
When i worked at Edge Diagnostics (now owned by Snap-On), we found it
several times more difficult to perform diagnostics on waste-spark systems.
There are a number of cars in the yards now that carry 1 coil per cylinder
(late Nissan Pulsar NX and 300ZX, BMW 318, SAAB 899, etc.). The coils
can be much smaller and you can get away with essentially no high-voltage
wires if you lay it out correctly (of course, this can be done to a
certain degree with waste-spark, as done on the Quad-4 and Quad-OHC).
