pump
all together and use the electric pump with an adjustable regulator (or
switch
between two different regulators). Regulate at 50 psi or whatever you need
for FI, then switch to 8(?) psi for the carb.

I wasn't thinking about using a mechanical fuel pump for the carb. i would
lean towards a standcard low pressure electric for that. The question I posed
was whether or not accelorator pump or piston seals might be damaged by being
actuated without any resistance or lubrication from the fluid. regulating the
fuel to 8 psi isn't a big deal, but a low pressure pump is cheap, easy to fit
and doesn't require bypasses for the regulation.
