Ref Chris, and used Knock Sensors.  I'd rather use the original ones,
while the Cad Plate isn't as pretty, having been torqued a couple times
they are desensitized.  As I recall over the years the have been several
TB about removing them and reinstalling with teflon tape to slightly
cushion them.  It's almost a fad lately to use them for tuning, which
is ok as an aid, not not the rule(?).  When tuning I'll burn the
chip to run right up against the knock sensor, then reburn the chip
with 2d less timing.  Now by up against the knock sensor, I mean that
while I'm doing this I do plug cuts.  Unleaded can some days is almost
impossible to read compared to the old days, but the black fly turd
specs are as easy to see as ever (that's Carbon/Al off the piston),
and indicates detonation.  Also look around the center electrode for 
signs of goo, which is the sign of the bonding glue from excess heat
usually to much timing at WOT, or idle.
