Duane,
Cool stuff !

Both 3.8 buick & 4.3 GM had "offset journal" even fire cranks. I think they
are every 120, and not some semi-even fire setup.

 > 2. can some one explain advantages of ether ecu?
GN unit supposedly gives up some efficiency because turbo has to suck
air through the mas-air-sensor. Syfoon system is MAP based, so turbo can
draw air more easliy. Also, later SyECU has much more processor power &
speed..
GN idles smoother and has better crack-throttle response thanks to SFI, which
BTW, is driven off a cam sensor. Not sure of it's make up..

     3. does anybody know of which emissions equipment I can delete from gm
control?...tcc,egr, fuel vapor, fan, iac..etc that wont send the
computer
         into a tail spin .
TCC doesn't feed back, believe same is true for fuel vapor, both ECU can run
elec fans if you want, and you can customize the on/off temps in either.
IAC could screw you, or at least take some time. Not sure what's on the
Toy..
..
     4. what kind of sensor is the cam/crank ? hall effect?
Not sure, about the type of crank trigger GN uses, but sy uses HEI distributor
and a single coil. Buick has the six-pack coils.

     5. knock sensor out put? hope to use the Toyota because it should be
tuned to engine?
hmmm. Better ask someone that knows what they're talking about here. Toyota
& GM
share a ton of electronic tech. I bet the sensor will connect & work fine.

     6. stock injector peak n hold/high or sat driver/low impedance ?
I get them mixed up approx 12 ohm for both P&H I think.

     7. what other cars did these ecu come from for junk yard searching?
Not sure on the Buick (let me know when you know)
but Sy ECM is found in the following:
1227749 ECM... from friend Ron G's Snap-On book.
'87-'90 2.0 liter Turbo cars [VIN engine code "M"]
Sunbird, Skyhawk, Calais, Grand Am, Skylark
'88 2.3 liter Quad 4 cars [VIN engine code "D"]
      Grand Am, Calais, Skylark
'91-'93 4.3 liter Turbo trucks [VIN engine code "Z"]
      Syclone, Typhoon

     8. any body do something similar that knows of the gotchas to this?
No, but woulld like too. Please keep me posted when you do it

     9. are there parts people have that they need to get rid of ?
I have lots of info on the Sy system, if you go that route..
Diagrams, chip offsets, etc....

     10. any questions i forgot to ask?

I hope I was of some help to you..
Where are you located anyway?
Mike V.
