Fellow Diy'rs,

Been following the Ethanol/Methanol use thread and may have some
helpful ideas. I'd been considering running methanol at some future
point in my own street & strip car and have solved a few problems.

The Ethanol/Methanol lack of lubricity issue could be solved by
using a synthetic two stroke engine oil. I've seen that motorcyle
racers, using alcohol as fuel, use a brand called Spectro, or Klotz.
These correct synthetics say right on their lable that they readily mix
with alcohol. While I'm not suggesting that you pour the stuff into your tank in the
recommended two stroke mixture ratio, you may find a small amount
added to a tankful of alcohol will aleviate the fuel pump, valve, and
top cylinder lubricant requirement issue.

Another source for a lubricant may be the oil that radio control airplane
enthusiasts use to mix with their nitromethane fuel. It may be
worth investigation.

To whomever is developing an efi ecu, please let me know the details
of the unit, I may want one to experiment with. Is the broad done
already?

Matt
