I had the same symptoms in a 1989 Delta 88, 3800 V6.  It turned out to
be bad gas.  I changed the fuel filter, drained the tank, put fresh
fuel (5 gals) and some tank cleaner.  It got a lot better, but I had to
put injector cleaner and tank dry in  to get the thing back on track
completely.  Also, in the wierd catagory.  This car likes 87 Octane
better than 93.   I guess GM did something right.
