I just replaced a fuel pump in my Honda Prelude because it drew too many
amps. I tested the replacement and it only draws about 4.5 to 5 amps. I
believe most other automotive pumps are about the same. I've noticed a
lot of cars with 10 Amp fuses on their fuel pump circuits. Generally the
pump draws much less than the fuse rating.
