In netscape, press the shift key while clicking on the link. Netscape will 
display a download area to save the file. This overrides plugins.

I have a word viewer linked to netscape and cannot load anything but 
garbage either. There is no way for me to get around this short of 
deleting the plugin. I also have word 95 as the word 97 it too buggy for 
me. Seems like the way to post files is in a common format that all can 
read.
