I believe the book to which you refer is _Racing and Sports Car Chassis
Design_ by Michael Costin. The book is published by Robert Bentley
[Cambridge, MA], and amazon.com currently states that the publisher is
out of stock, so it may be a hard find until the next reprint. The book
is _very_ worthwhile. Lots of good anecdotal information, and a healthy
appendix of formulae for calculation of lots of statics and dynamics
related to racing. Has lots of that very good British line art and
plenty of photographs, illustrating, principally, innovative Lotus
chassis designs over the years which showed excellent stiffness at very
low weight. Lots of detailed information on chassis and suspension.
Cheers.
