What is "relatively cheap"?  Will TBI do the trick for you?  You can pick
up the top-of-the-line Holley Pro-Jection 4Di for $2300 to $2500.  You
can do a whole lot of tweaking with it.  It'll even run your spark timing
if you set it up right.  Installing it is at about the same level of
difficulty as installing a new carb, except that you have to install a
bunch of sensors and route some wiring.

There are other companies, such as Howell, that offer FI.  In most cases,
you tell them what you have and they burn a PROM for you.  If you upgrade
your engine, you pass them some more bucks for another PROM.  With the
Holley, you just goof with the fuel tables again.

Does anyone know of another system that lets you goof with the tables? 
Has anyone managed to hack out the programming of the ROM in the OEM
boxes?
