Hi Ray,
There are a number of us ford guys lurking around here, myself included.
I have two stangs, both efi, one with an anderson modified interceptor
2. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a programmable
ecu piggyback that monitors and modifies fuel, timing and provides
pretty good data logging via serial cable to a pc. It's definitely not
as flexible as the efi332 project (hence, me lurking) but it does do a
pretty good job of fine tuning the car.

I don't know about the knock sensor limitation, although choice of
lifters has little if anything to do with detonation. As far as your
setup, I have a 337 blown stroker on one of my cars, with a 225/233,
.564/.586 and 112deg cam on it (hydraulic). Although the idle is still
lumpy, the car has no problems idling. A friend of mine has a somewhat
similar cam for a n/a 302 on a 108deg center and solid lifters; he also
idles fine. I admit, it takes a while to play with fuel pressure,
timing and throttle plate position to get the idle even, but it can
definitely be done.

You might want to consider the new edelbrock victor efi manifold. It's
a single plane manifold (ram air style) with the injector bosses already
on it; even better, the efi throttle body bolts right up.
