The easy way is buying a G-Tech ($150).
  They DIY way is using the VSS and running that thru a counter and stop
watch.  Mine ignores the first two tire revolutions, and then
counts 100 revolutions ie 600'ish.  Stop Watch was a $20 radio
shack, and times only matter for a comparison.

Also in the tuning notes at 332 ftp, you'll notice I repeat again,
and again.  It's the least amount of timing with no lose of performance that
you tune too.  On some applications with can be
as much as 4 degrees, less than the knock point, at high rpm....
Also, if you look at the timing tables there, now that you've seen
what you've seen they will make more sense....
