Things like this seem to work well I built the opposite many years ago.
I took an analogue signal put it through an a/d converter the output of the a/d
was used to address an eprom. the eprom data was used as input to a d/a. The idea
of the circuit was to compensate for non linear transducers in instrumentation. As
you can put whatever data you want in the eprom you can make the output anything
you want for any given input. However it is not a cheep circuit if you want good
resolution.
