Another possibility...

Open a dos window (assuming a win95 machine).

C:\>ftp efi332.eng.ohio-state.edu
User (efi332.eng.ohio-state.edu:(none)): anonymous
Password: chuck at somehwere.com
cd incoming
binary
send my_file
ls   (this will show you a list of files)
quit


Some lines that will appear on your screen were not included in the
example above.
