Jurgen,
I am currently installing a MicroTech MT8 on my 1987 FJ75 Toyota
Landcruiser, converting to PEFI using the OEM FI inlet manifold assy, for
which it is very suitable. I have also used Haltech and am about to purchase
a Wolf 3D for another car after experiencing an installation with a friend's
car. My procedure, so far, is to use MicroTech for the simpler
installations, Wolf 3D for the next stage up in performance engines and for
the features you desire the Haltech E6K would be my choice at this stage.
With more use my opinions may change, so this is meant to be a starting
point for you, not a final say. So far all systems performed as advertised
and all contacts have been friendly and cooperative. MicroTech gain points
for using OEM sensors and harness integration where possible, this means you
get an incomplete harness, i.e. wires connected to ECU but bare ends.
Haltech and Wolf are more expensive, supply [mostly] their sensors but with
them attached.
The Wolf and Haltech manuals are comprehensive and give a lot of broad EFI
info, MicroTech is more concise, dealing only with their product, they
assume greater knowledge on the users part but are really quite clear.
Microtech and Wolf have handsets, Haltech a PC is required although I think
Wolf may have a PC interface by now, I'm not sure. I haven't found any great
difficulty, yet, with either control method.
I have not yet used any system on a highly modified [race] engine but
setting maps for dual fuel equates to setting dual 'boost' maps and is not
difficult on these systems.
Haltech and Wolf have growing dealer networks worldwide, MicroTech? I
haven't found any except here in Australia. All companies claim to service
the features you require and can control very 'wild' engines. Tom Hansen's
VW race cars use 'Haltech' F9As http://home.att.net/~drsowatt/index.html
and Porsche bits on his custom FI set-ups, look at his T4 and EFI links.
After some development he will likely go to turbo and full engine
management, which is why I commend his site to you.
As this is the first MT unit I have bought, I would say download the Wolf3D
manual, read it closely and compare it to the Haltech E6K. I have no
personal experience with other brands, so can't comment on them even though
I, like many here, have researched them.
Paul
