I humbly submit your mechanic friend wasn't familiar w/ anything other than
a real $hitty injection systems. As for hydrolock, I think that's a
non-issue here; my wife once drove her Chevy Cavalier thru a deep puddle &
sucked enough water into the engine to stop it instantly. I just took out
the plugs, cranked it, poured some alky in the plug holes just to rinse &
dry it further. Changed the oil, no internal damage whatsoever. Want to
tell ya how high the water shoots out, though!
