Reinventing the wheel, while fun, can involve alot more then screwing some
bits together.  There are plenty of Turbo cars to work with, or take parts
off of to transplant.
Having a hotrod as an only car is a real PITA.  My suggestion is maintain a
decent grocery getter, and then work on a second car when the situation is
right.  Expecting to make trans continential runs from home to school for
shake down runs is kinda pushing things.
