Cold fuel

Would there be much benefit from cooling or even chilling the fuel before it
enters the fuel rail and gets injected into the engine?

I have seen drag racers run their fuel lines through a small cooler box full
of ice (dry and wet). Would it help cool the air/fuel charge in the engine
and hence delay the onset of possible detonation. What would be the benefits
of doing this?
