WBO2 thoughts

For the guys who don't have access to certain types of equipment.
The word is out: Don't leave your WBO2 switched on if the car is not running.
Some commercial WBO2 sampling units, however, can be left on for large amounts
of time. What's the difference?
One particular strategy is to mount the O2 sensor in an aluminum block. On a
face 90 degrees to the sensor, a 1/4" steel tubing probe is connected. This
tubing is the "connection" with the tailpipe. On the face opposite the steel
tubing 2 lines are connected. These lines extend to the suction side of an air
pump. The pump draws exhaust gas past the sensor while the car is running, and
draws air over the sensor when the vehicle is shut off. Additionally, the
pump keeps moisture from condensing on the sensor and ruining it. The only
caveat is that you must keep liquid that condenses in the lines from contacting
the sensor (don't place the sensor lower than the lines). To aid in that, clear
hoses are used.
Again, this is just an idea for the thoughtful.
